Report an Absence
If your child will be absent or tardy, please call the office at (507)624-0311 or email the office bps.attendance@byron.k12.mn.us
Parents/ guardians of students who fail to report their student's absence or tardy will be called at home, work or other numbers provided.
If prior notice (note to teacher or phone call/email to the office) is not given, a written excuse from the parent/guardian is required for absences/tardies and must be brought to the office upon returning to school, stating the date(s) and the reason for the absence.
Students arriving tardy to school (after 11:00 am) will be marked as a 1/2 day absence. If a student is absent during the school day, they are not to participate in evening activies.

Students who have eight (8) excused absences will receive a letter of concern from the principal. When a student has twelve (12) excused absences due to illness, a doctor’s note may be required. Other excused absences will be approved at the principal’s discretion.
Students will be counted tardy if they are not in their classrooms by 8:00 am. Tardy students are required to check in at the office and will be given a Tardy slip.
After four (4) unexcused tardies, a warning letter will be sent home to parents. At seven (7) unexcused tardies, the building principal will contact the parent to implement a plan.
